Two Meatballs: Ah…Juice It…Juice it Real Good!!!

Get it!?!?!?  Hahahahaha Salt and Pepa for life!  Gah I’m funny…or is it just me!? Anywho, I so desperately needed a restart button and it came in the form of a 3 day Humdinger Juice Cleanse.  Have you heard of this amazing company?!  I am a person who needs a very literal recommitment.  I had seen some of my clients drinking their juice and then found out the the company was local…then I found out that the founder of the company was on One Tree Hill.  Ummm, where do I sign up!?  So on a day filled with empowering moves of saying no to ourselves and our rallying cry speech from Michael Knight, I went online and ordered a three day juice cleanse….what better way to start fessh?!  It was a bit of an investment, which I also need to get serious…I need a literal buy in!  The next day a cooler with 18 juices appeared on my front door. Yippee!

I did this so on the fly that I didn’t read or do any of the pre work…ie: cutting out meat and sugar, upping my water intake, cutting caffeine, and adding hot water with lemon to my daily routine!  Whoopsie Daisy! These juices are very perishable so pre work be damned.  I said so long to chewing, woke up Thursday morning and had my first juice…Glow, before our workout with Sandra!

Y’all, it was so good!  There was pineapple, apple, filtered water, mint and lime!  So refreshing!  The workout went great!

Then I got home and had my second juice…Balance.  It reminded me of Green Machine from Whole Foods!

I got ready for work and packed my bag with three more juices.

I drank tons of water and lemon water that day!

In between clients at three hour intervals I would slam another juice!

Because by the third hour I was starving!

And getting a little tired and weak!

That afternoon, my spirit animal and mentor Joelle brought me into her office for a Fierce Conversation.  I am always game to dig deep.  She wanted to talk about my spiral out of control and confronted me with the most devastating thought…what if nothing changed in 6 months.  How much weight could I gain back…ugh!!!!  All of it!  I was already in a good place with getting back on track but she helped me see that I needed to find another tag line…a rallying cry to keep myself on track.  So my new line is what does 33 look like?  I really want to be very close to my goal weight of 160 by my next birthday.  She also made me realize a couple of other things which we will get into on a later post.  Joelle…I love you!  Work came to a close and so did my eyes.  The fatigue was a lot!  So I went home and had my 6th and final juice of the day, aptly named Calm.  Now I must say, and you all know that I judge books by covers, this juice was milky white and just looking at it gave me gas.  But, it ended up being my absolute favorite!  It had vanilla, maple syrup and cinnamon!  Yuuuuuuuum!

I literally passed out a few moments later bc I’ve literally never gone an entire day in my life without chewing something!

I slept like a champ…10 hours!  I woke up very tired and they named this a cleanse for a reason.  Me and my bathroom have a new relationship…and I blew through an entire book.  It’s just juice so it runs rigggght through you…like every ten minutes!  Thank gahhhh I was off this day.  I started out my day with and this may shock you…a  juice!

And no joke, my skin looked amaze and I already felt less dense…a little lighter.  This was quite possibly from the never ending diarrhea!

I headed off to get a mani/pedi with my buddy Lee…this was about all the energy I could muster!

Then it was back home for more low key non movement, juice and pooping.

I was starting to really food porn fantasize about eating…anything!  I did the meanest thing to myself.  I started watching Diners, Drive Ins and Dives while pinning a hundred thousand paleo recipes on Pinterest!  One thing is for sure…I’m going to appreciate Paleo so much more on Sunday.  I had to get out of the house.  My bestie Katie is home from DC and my sister got two baby chicks for the boys…the perfect get together! So I went and picked Katie up!

And it was off to my sisters! Somebody look at these chicks and my chicken nuggets!

I asked the boys to show me a chick face and this is what I got…ha!

Due to my fear of death by salmonella, this was my reaction and proximity to the fowl birds! Get it!? There I go again…being hilarious 😉

There is always time for snuggles…after these dirty birds washed their hands #aintnobodygottimeforsalmonella

Then we asked Wyatt to take a picture of the girls…#faileo

Then Auntie Katie and the boys played and she told my favorite story of all time!

They named the chicks Jelly and Duck duck I think…at one point there was an Oy Fishy…#oyvey  Katie and I were of us literally…so it was time to go!  Another day of juicing down!

But I had a dinner to go to the following evening and I was responsible for dessert, so what a fun test this was!  Thanks Whole Foods for looking so tempting!!!

I’m starving…so bedtime for sure. The next morning brought…more juice!!!  I felt a little more energy this day and again I slept like a damn champine!  Today was the land of a million birthdays!  First off…my other meatballs little Londy! But first…a juice!

Jenny will post more on this but it was a sea of delicious smelling cupcakes!  Gah you assholes, don’t you know I’m on a juice cleanse. Jk…what kid doesn’t want a birthday full of cupcakes! And honestly nothing is better than the cutest little girl yelling your name when you arrive!

But I stuck to the rules. I really needed this to prove to myself that I could commit and keep my word! #success Love my Jenny and her amazing family.  Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this special day!

Back to my house for a rest before party number two…and another juice #officiallyoverjuice!

Then it was off to my bestie’s house for an old school Mine Valley Reunion/Celebration of Gigi/Sunny Jim (Katie’s Dad)’s birthday!  What a fun night reuniting with everyone!  We were a rag tag group.  Mom has been battling with crippling tooth pain so she wasn’t able to go and Wyatt had a cold and Chase had a fever!  Geez!!!  But we rode together #duh and instantly had a blast!  Welcome to Tedrow-land.

The Tedrow’s have an awesome pool table/ping pong table…so it was on!

Then we had a group moment for Gigi and all of our loved ones who have moved on!

And then it was dinner time!

None for me thanks! #worsttimingever!  I’ll just cuddle with sweet Chase and juice it up!

Time to celebrate Sunny Jim’s birthday! #areyaone?!

Then it was game time!!!  Go Pack!!!!!

What a great game….we won!!!!!  Best night ever!!!!  Love you Tedrows and Reedys!!!! So great to see my Katie Nana….

And thankfully the juice cleanse is finally done! #hallelujer Time to masticate…get your head out of the gutter, and read a book! hahahahahahahahaha

I made it and I feel wonderful!  If you are in need of a health project, inspiration and just a dose of integrity you should google Humdinger Juice stat!!!  Look at the difference!

I feel less bloated and off of my sugar obsesh days.  I feel fresh and springy and literally empty 😉  I’m baccccccccccccccckkkkkkkk!!!!  Love y’all!  Spread the love and health and support a local business!!!!

Two Meatballs: New Years Revolutions!!!

First off…I wrote the post below a week ago bc I was being super proactive with my vacation days!!!  So I just wanted to butt into my own story and say…thank you guys so much for your support with this last weigh in!!!  It feels so good to have another month behind us! We reached over 30,000 people!!!

Our sweet pal Roseanne being one of them!

And got some of the prettiest pictures of life thanks to Katie!!!

But most of all we’ve got our health…I mean somebody look at this before and after!

Which is the perfect segue into the original post…new years revolutions!  Enjoy and thanks again! Love, Sara Back to your regularly scheduled Meatball post…

Hello friends. Did you survive the holidays!?!

Were you surrounded by friends, family and loved ones!?!  Did you eat wayyyy too much!?

So much has happened since we last spoke!!!  This guy turned 61 and we celebrated like champs!

I bought a “juicer”…

Tightened up big time for the weigh in…made some inspired asian meals!!!

Now all of the sudden,  it’s New Years Eve…can you believe how quickly this year flew by???

We’ve come so far!!!

I don’t give a shit about going out on NYE…I think it’s super overrated!!!  But with my former love of partying, it never stopped me!

In the past I would have such bold resolutions…I’m a dreamer and I loved the aspect of a fresh start!  That part of me hasn’t changed a bit.

As much as I love the holidays, I also really enjoy packing Christmas away and not being tempted by a thousand desserts every day! January feels so new and shiny to me.  And for once in my life I won’t be hungover annnnd I won’t be obsessing over a new diet and forcing myself to join a gym! So how does a sober gal celebrate New Years when her super best buddy is in town!?

…why a dinner party/sleepover of course! #howgrownofyou #thankyouiknow  On the menu tonight…Lemon garlic oevn roasted pork tenderloin, garlic dill scallion smashed cauliflower, ugly green beans, that kale and brussel sprout salad from Christmas Eve and homemade Reese Cups for dessert! #yummmm All these recipes are pinned under New Years Eve Menu n our Sara and Jenny BeardSmith Pinterest account!

And who will be joining us this evening…some oldie but goodies; Nanners, Katie and Joe T and my other meatball Jenny plus Muffin the Never Ending Story Dog!

You may be asking yourself…why didn’t Sara shower or attempt to look nice on any level, especially when everyone else looks so cute!?!  As I’m writing this I’m thinking the exact same thing you guys!  Truth be told, I had my first real cold in almost a year and it hit me hard…like fire throat, no voice, fevery hard.  So I decided to juice up, green tea and lemon and honey it up, and get lots of rest it up…the show must go on! Haha, so I didn’t quite make it to the showering it up, makeup ing it up or the whole putting on real clothes part of the night!!!  Oh well!  These cuties came bearing gifts!!!  And my how things have changed!

Me and my bestie knocked it out of the park for each other!!!  She got me the new Amy Poehler book and a new loose leaf tea thing!!!! #soexcited #healthyfriendstotheend

Then Joe brought gifts of local meat and veggies from the farm that he works at Coon Rock Farm!!! #sopaleo #sothoughtful #sogrown #notmyboyfriendeveryonewhosawhimonfacebook

Joe is the little brother I always wanted!!!  More on the farm tomorrow!!!  Then Anna brought gifts of the juicing variety!!!  You guysssss, so thoughtful and supportvie!!!  Thanks so much! I’m thankful every single day for the people in my life.

Ok on to dinner!!!  Muffin or Moofster as I call her #iloveanickname enjoyed some rice and dog food! #woofliterally

And the humans ate a very paleo, yum scrumdidaleeyumcious din din.

Ughhhhh!!!  I couldn’t look worse!!! #iliterallywokeuplikethis

Everything was delish balls but the ugly green beans won Big timmmme!!!  Then it was time for Joe to skidattle…don’t worry we will visit him tomorrow!!!  Bye Joe, love you!

Then Jenny finally got off work and came to play!

And we snuggled,  took some important phone calls #excusemeihavetotakethis, played Christmas dress up with Muffin,  died laughing only a thousand times, watched Seacrest and made so much fun of Fergie #whodoesshethinksheis!? #lalalalalaaaa and counted down to 2015!

So much fun with some of my absolute favorite people.  Anna had to go but Katie and Jenny spent the night…you know I live for a sleepover!!!!  I will leave the story there and pick up where I left off tomorrow.  I’m going to close this post with me and Jenny’s own personal resolutions for 2015.

Two Meatballs: Go Home December, You’re Drunk!!!

Holy hell you guys!!!  I guess in my former life I over indulged allllll the time so I just didn’t realize how excessive and over the top December was. I did not mentally prepare myself for the parties, pot lucks, goodies, traditions, celebrations, dining out and outings…why does this month want me to stay fat!?!?!  I have officially gone into survival mode. I just keep telling myself you cannot have a plus sign on that chalk board!!!  I really needed a plan considering the weekend I had ahead of me.  Saturday morning I met up with my ladies who lunch and ballet group!!!

You may remember us from such past posts as Two Meatballs: The Surprises Keep on Coming and  a Sexual Ballet!   This group consists of my sister Kelly and her friends who have adopted me; Sarah, Ashley and Laura! Today we went to my favorite thing on earth…THE NUTCRACKER!!!

Thank you so much Sarah!!! My parents got me this cd when I was a kid and I listened  and interpretive danced to it until the grooves wore slam off! #nerdalert I know every song by heart….every harp pluck, every bassoon crescendo!!!!  My Bff Katie and I went to go see it with our moms when we were 7 and I’ve been hooked ever since. We walked into Memorial Auditorium and right off the bat saw a hilarious opportunity!

Bahahahahahahhahahahahaha! I love Santa…this guys was such a great sport!  Then I had an even better idea.  Whose mom doesn’t want a pic of their thirty something daughters with Santa sans grandchildren ?!

#burningthighs Merry Christmas mom!!!  Her reaction was hilarious.  We thought she was going to get choked up but instead she started hysterically laughing!!!! An even better reaction!!! I guess some of the sentimental magic fades over the years…

And it becomes two crazy grown ups on Santa’s lap! Ha!  Ok onto the show.  The dancing, costumes and scenery are so beautiful but truth be told…I’m here for the music!  I started playing piano at 7 bc my dad played and I thought it was amazing!  #hellobusterfamily And from the moment I was able, I played something from The Nutcracker for every Christmas performance!

Look how excited we are…a what a fun group! #imareindeer #elfyou

We had amazing third row seats and even got to meet some of the orchestra!!!

I feel like I’m wearing the same outfit I did when I was 7!!!!  Ps I love my Silpada necklace Aunt Carole…thank you so much!!!  The show was amazing!

And bonus, My client Nina’s daughter was a dancing cupcake…she’s living out allll of my childhood fantasies!!!

Ugh-dorable!!!!  What a fun day!  And what date is complete without a bathroom selfie fail…

Then we went to lunch at Raleigh Times and I had a somewhat healthy salad and a calorie free selfie win

#lovemysister #whatdopeoplewithoutsisterbestiesdo!?!

…then Kelly and I had to run bc we had our family Christmas party at my house in just a few hours!!!  Thanks Sarah, Laura and Ashley for including me!!! Love y’allllllL! You guyyyyyysssss…plan b of survival mode is control #ilovecontrol #missjanetifyourenasty Offering to throw our family holiday function is killing two birds with one stone for me…first, I LIVE TO THROW A PARTY and second, it gives me a little more control over the menu!  I know I will make yummy paleo offerings and my sweet and supportive mom and sister did the same!!!

Now all I have to do is avoid dessert

#thatface #seriousaboutsweets and cram 40 people into my 700 square foot downstairs!!!  Take a look at my family whom I adore…did you guys know I love my family!?  I’m not sure if I had mentioned that before, winky face!

Uncle Marty and Aunt Retha brought their dog Harley and I have never seen my nephews more in love!

Then our life long family best buddies of thirty plus years and former next door neighbors for half that time, The Tedrows stopped by!!! #friendswhoarefamily #framily

Now…the time has come…for the kids to open up their gifts!!!

#success Is their anything more exciting than watching kids tear into wrapping paper and squeal with delight at toys!?!  I think not!  I hit a total home run with Chase and a Paw Patrol game…so me and him, Wyatt and Auntie Katie went to my room to check it out and play!

And dance…

And cheers…

And take some fun selfies…

Shew…Christmas is exhausting!!!

Well, I ate pretty healthy and avoided desserts!  I also got to catch up with family that I hadn’t seen in years #loveyouandy My heart and home were bursting at the seams tonight with family and love.  To my family, I love you all so much!  Thanks for your support and Merry Christmas.  I literally can’t wait to do it again.

Two Meatballs: The Surprises Keep on Coming…and a Sexual Ballet!

It is so nice to get out and celebrate other people and be with friends when your personal life feels a little shitty…everyone needs a distraction am I right ladies!?  Time for the meatballs to hit the town!!!  So what better to do than surprise your loved ones on their birthdays!!!  We had two milestone birthdays at the salon this week.  First up…Michael Knight!!!  This guy shockingly turned 50 this week!  No one is younger or more bad ass than this guy! We love you Michael!!! PS…standing with Michael, cigar in hand is one of our bosses, Jack, who also turned 50 this year. You guys are making 50 look amazing. #50isthenew40

Our bosses lured him out to dinner at Gravy…

While we waited excitedly a few doors down at Landmark!!!

Then it was time to take our places and get ready to surprise the birthday boy!

And what a surprise it was…

Nothing like turning a corner and being bombarded with songs and soooo much birthday love!  Time to celebrate!

What a fun night!!!  Happy happy birthday Michael!!!!!  We love you so much.  Then while Jenny was at work Saturday I was invited to the ballet with my sister and her friends Sarah and Ashley whom I adore!  We met at Buku for lunch…

#alwaystimetojackassaround #thatcouchwascallingmyname

The company and conversation was amazing…the food left a lot to be desired!!!  I have been here several times but this time was wah wah for sure!!!  But that didn’t stop the fun. #imlightneningonmyfeet #lifechangingdessert #toomuchcoffee #ablacktoilet!!! #polishthighs  #aruba!?

Then it was on to The Fletcher Center for The Masque of the Red Death and Dracula the ballet!!!  You guyyyyys….Dracula was the most sexual thing I have ever seen on the stage!  The only other ballet I’ve seen is The Nutcracker so I had nooooo idea it could be this steamy…literally it was so hot in there but my goodness…the vampire sirens…the drinking of the blood.  It was super fucking hot so do yourself a sexy favor and go see this for sure.  It was also beautiful.  My sister and I  are big dance fans even though neither one of us ever took a class…we are just experts from So You Think You Can Dance!!! It’s so gorgeous to watch and I love the symphony and watching it all happen.  I also realized that I am not  grown up or sophisticated enough for a ballet crowd and I can’t stop talking or making inappropriate noises when a ballerina bends over and grabs her ankles…hey oh…am I right ladies?!  What a fun afternoon with people I love!!! Can’t wait to do it again! #lovemydid

Then Jenny got off work and we got dolled up to go to our sweet bunny Lauren’s surprise 30th birthday party!!!  Her sweet and adorable boyfriend Cameron surprised her at Tobacco Rd.  We were late because I couldn’t get my shit together! haha so we missed the surprise aspect but not the celebration!  Lauren is such a big supporter of the blog that we had some meatball sightings which always makes us feel like one million dollars!!!  Lauren is someone everyone should have the pleasure of knowing….no more positive, joyful person exists on this earth.  She is the living funnest.

Sooooo fun to see everyone from work outside of work so many times in one weekend!!!!  Happy birthday y’all and can’t wait to do it again!!!!!
