Hiiiiiiiii guyyyyyys!!!! With all of the changes going on in my life, I have learned that I have very little control! And slowly but surely, I am finding pleasant peace with that. Right now the only thing I really felt like I have a modicum of say in is my look! Which is for sure the funnest thing to be in charge of!!! #thebrandcalledyou I have overhauled my hair, makeup, clothing(if you haven’t shopped at Mod Cloth drop everything and buy everything) and glasses to project more of how I feel and who I am even if I’m not feeling back to my normal self which is…sunny, bright and a mermaid.

Now that I’ve taken the plunge, it’s even more exciting to figure out what is next!

The possibilities seem endless and I’m super open to voting!!!! Lately I’ve also been dreaming a lot and most of my dreams have involved me being in various stages of pregnancy! Eeeeek #scawwwwwy So my good buddy Robyn googled it (the most trusted source for all of my most pressing matters) and as it turns out, dreaming of pregnancy means that you are craving creativity!!! Well aren’t I the luckiest of girls…because every single day of my life is an opportunity to be creative! I’m literally surrounded by the most inspiring people!!!

I’ve had so many great opportunities to take it as far as I wanted and to learn incredible things from the coolest people in my 13 year career at Samuel Cole!

I love it all, the pretty, the ugly, the editorial, the drunk socialite!!! Sometimes you take for granted how amazing your career and life are. And with my split schedule between hairdressing and mentoring, I sometimes get so into cheerleading that I forget how cool my life on the floor is. So a stroll down memory amazing opportunity lane is always a blessing.

So, today was the perfect day to meet a new bestie/hair soul mate and learn more of exactly what I’m obsessed with right now!!!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Nicole Obert in the salon. Jenny and I love class so much, we are front row girls for sure and what an awesome view we got today!!! #earlybirdgetsthebestviewofgenius

Nicole is a Wella baby, she is Tabitha Coffey’s hairdresser, she has worked alongside Vaughn, Arrojo and so many other heavy hitters in our industry as well as placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Wella Trend Vision. But you may recognize her from Season 2 of Shear Genius…only the greatest show to come out of Bravo….ever. Besides all of that, she is the cutest, most beautiful and super talented stylist and educator. I love her energy and right away she had you hooked. I mean look how adorable!

I had the pleasure of introducing her and we had a lively bunch today!

Nicole brought to our salon today the things that have been inspiring her! We learned a beautiful, layerey razor cut that is life changing, a bad ass shave undercut that is everything

and we also learned a lot about Wella’s revamped Magma which is used to create this!!!

You had me at watermelon and sherbet!!! Her consultations were on point and collaborative which you know i love, her demos were amazing and I walked away with a hundred take aways!!!!

Her hair painting was flawless

and she was adamant that we all participate which is so exciting in a presentation only class!

Every hairdresser just wants to get their hands in hair!!!

You guys, I love a team. Everything about it appeals to me; the collaboration, learning to work with and respect others who approach things differently than you, being inspired by others talents, learning new things, having a project and working together towards a shared goal, getting to know people better and getting to know myself better in the process and how the entire process brings you closer together if everyone is open! I am a true extrovert and I get my energy refilled by being with others. I’m getting inspired just talking about it. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

So I basically ended up in the most amazing career, at the best salon with the best opportunity for me to help craft a position as the director of mentoring. It is such a collaborative job. I work with stylist to help them achieve all of their work dreams, while being coached and constantly learning from my own mentor! I get to cheerlead for an awesome group of talented stylists. #patonthebackkickinthebutt We get to tackle obstacles together, celebrate the victories, laugh, cry, get promoted, overcome adversity and we both learn so much in the process. I want for my team to feel lifted up and supported when they leave my “office”. I am beyond grateful to have found my calling at 19 and to still love my career at 32. #thankskristina There will always be room for me to learn, grow, serve others and change for the better and I can’t get enough of that. I also feel like I get to share this team/cheerleader mentality with the education team at the salon and even my clients. #solucky My relationship with my clients has become so much more than hairdresser/client. We know each other so intimately. I want for my clients to come in and feel fully taken care of on every level and I want them to be thoroughly entertained. No matter their mood when they come in I want them to leave feeling loved, feeling better and looking fabulous. We work together to achieve the most beautiful look that makes them feel amazing! But on a deeper level, we really connect. I love being there for my clients through the good and the not so good, all of life big events and I feel like they are there for me too. First, I see a woman named Terri for structural integration and energy healing. This lady is the love of my life. We are so different but kindred spirits on every level. I trust her and look forward to every single torturous/enlightening/uplifting/discovery driven session because I know she will make me feel better in every way possible (mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually). Terri also moonlights at my next health mecca…Verve Holistic Health. She referred me to the owner, Lauren Scott who is hands down the most passionate holistic health care provider. She is a chiropractor by trade, but she has taught me more about nutrition and living a healthy life all around than anyone else I’ve encountered. She knows her shit. She can look at me and say, titled pelvis and, damned if I don’t have a tilted pelvis! I love her next level care.

Terri also referred me to Hedy at Verve Holistic Health. I love that my people all live in the same space! I just saw Hedy for the first time this week. She gave me an incredibly in depth consultation and looked deeply into every aspect of my health. We worked specifically on my lungs with acupuncture and cupping. All three of these women indulge all of my curiosity, they all answer my questions and explore deeper with me and I love the idea of moving into a more holistic path for my health and wellness!

When my feelings hurt worse than my body, I see my therapist! You guys, this woman is so positive. I think it is so important to click with any provider. I’m looking for high end client experience everywhere I go and I just love Christine! She is so positive. The perspective that she gives me is so mind blowing because of its simplicity. I feel more balanced and accepting of life and myself when I leave her. I wish that I could sit in her lap while she listened to me, but I understand that other people have space issues! Hahahah. Also, she has an adult coloring book in her waiting room…make your appointment like yesterday. I believe every single person should have someone that is impartial in their lives to listen to them. Very rarely do we get to talk about ourselves in a safe environment and have someone truly listen to us. It is cathartic as hell.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know I’m obsessed with Pure Barre. I needed a lower impact alternative to high intensity interval training and Pure Barre is the living funnest. Feeling well is so important and this is my bad ass group of women who make me feel unstoppable! But sometimes a girl just wants to look amazing, which in turn makes you feel amazing! So when I want to feel more beautiful than I could ever imagine, I go see Krystal Lehman at MAC in Crabtree Valley Mall! She is an artist and a genius and I trust her implicitly. And she has a higher level of service, not only can she make me look beautiful when I come in, she took the time to teach me how to make myself feel as good everyday! She has taught me so much about makeup and application. I literally cannot say enough things about this woman. I love her and consider her a lovely friend of 10 plus years!

Let me just say again, I work with the most talented group of people! I am happy when I leave anyones chair and just excited to feel like a client for a minute. Lately I have been on a hair color adventure. No time like the present and lately I have wanted nothing more than to be a mermaid! So my first thought was my teammate and love, Cara Harrison. She first took me platinum and now pinky purple.

I trust her. Her talent speaks for itself. And we’ve known each other since high school, so i love the history we have together! I literally couldn’t love my hair more, and who has ever looked so natural as a pink head!? #dreamsdocometrue #dear7yearoldsarayou’relifeisnowcomplete She is an incredibly well rounded stylist. I do hair for a living and have for the past 13 years and she still teaches me knew things all the time, especially when it comes to different products for my angry but fine hair. I love getting my nails done and I love spending time with my baby boo, sweet Lee! She works right next door at Bella Nail Spa and I know every 2 weeks I will get a chance to sit calmly and be a client. It’s creative, I love picking out my color and what I love the most is that Lee will tell me if she thinks its ugly and then suggest one that I inevitably love 1 million times more. She is fast, efficient and so friendly. I love her, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy seeing her so often. I love supporting our little group of businesses as well! #shoplocalwinkyface

And finally, I just started going to Good Looks two doors down from us. I needed an eye exam and I love convenience. I was pleasantly surprised that I love this place since it is so convenient! I ended up getting glasses that were perfect for me thanks to the amazing Larry Pyle! I don’t even wear glasses, I am a contact lover! But this gentleman went above and beyond and his honesty was lovely. He helped me see that the glasses that I loved were the right shape but that the color totally washed me out. He showed me how another pair brought down my face. So finally we ended on the living most perfect pair of glasses that my face has ever seen!

I’m such a child I had to come back over to the salon and show my bestie, and she is so fun she had to try them on. #matchmadeinheaven

You guys (this is Sara)…I have found my exercise spirit animal, and it is Pure Barre North Raleigh.

I have been having the hardest time getting myself motivated to work out again! My stylist and buddy Natalie was doing my hair the other day and telling me the key to life is getting up at 5am and going to workout at a class and getting it done…having the rest of the day ahead of you. At the time it sounded like crazy talk! This is Sara from the future…Natalie!!! You were so right! #lifechanger

The girls at Samuel Cole Salon have been going to classes and Pure Barre specifially forever and I finally got begrudgingly persuaded into going. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this but classes were my worst nightmare. I found the thought of them soooo incredibly intimidating! I talked myself into a tizzy over this last year of fitness and wellness that classes weren’t for me. They were for experienced, fit girls.

I convinced myself the instructors would yell at you and I would fall or cry or break my leg and knock myself out and lose all my front teeth or fly off an exercise ball and take out a row of old ladies!?! What a silly girl I am. So when Sandra had to unexpectedly leave town just as I was getting my healthy groove back AND Jenny was out of town for the Bee Wedding I had several realizations. #1 I am completely dependent on Sandra! It is such an amazing and challenging workout and I was in such a bad place for so long that I convinced myself that the once a week with her was enough. So when I got my shit back together I decided to start seeing Sandra twice a week #accountabilityiskey We made it through one week before she had a family emergency. #loveyouandyourfamilysandy I was feeling so connected again, I had to find a way to keep going! #2 I need a buddy, I am codependent as hell! #3 I hate wearing shoes…especially sneakers. #4 The world has a wonderful way of presenting you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.

So reality came crashing down that I would be solo in the exercise game last week and I thought, Sara you better steel yourself up for this! Lauren, my next door neighbor at work and the love of my life,

said you should try Pure Barre. I’ll help you sign up! She walked me to the computer, we found a time together and it was a 6am class last Wednesday. Everything felt very fate. I worried about waking up, being on time, would I die…all the normal stuff! But we got there and Grogan was there too!!! I was feeling the love and support and it helped me feel comfortable and excited! Claire was our teacher and it was go go go from word go!

After lots of air humping, pulsing, bending and lets of tiny, controlled movements and music blasting, an hour flew by! Claire was so nice and encouraging and helped me understand how to do things!

An hour flew by and I survived! Grogan really pushed me to sign up for an unlimited month! So I did and she helped me download the app and I started signing up for so many classes. They have a 40 classes in 60 days and I want to see if I can do it! So, Grogan and I went back on Friday…at 6am! Today we had Kim! She was so challenging and supportive!

Haaaa!!! Look at that couch love! Her class was an ass kicker for sure! Then I did something I NEVER thought I would do…I went by myself on Sunday and met the sweetest, most lovely little Paige!

She gave me tips on how to do some things that I can’t physically do yet differently so I still get a good workout…I love modifications! I set myself up and everything and survived solo workouts!

Then I made it to number 4…reunited with Grogan on Monday!

So early, so ugly! Today was with Christina! She had a great energy and again was super encouraging!

You guyyyys!!!! I’m in love with this place and this lifestyle! Getting up early and going to bed early feels great. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m doing something, it’s booked, it’s in my calendar, and I don’t have to wear shoes!!!!!!!!!! I already feel better in my adorable new bathing suits from MonifC! I love this one piece and fringe fatkini!

I was oh so wrong about classes. The instructors have been amazing, this class style is so challenging and different. They are small classes and everyone is friendly. It’s so hard you don’t have the energy to see what everyone else is doing. And the warm up is the same. So the first day I felt like I couldn’t do anything and now I already feel like I am more capable…how motivating is that!? To the girls at work…I love you guys so much I could cry. Thank you for the support and encouragement and the glowing positivity! I really needed you and y’all were at the right place in the right time in my life!Love times a milly. Second, thank you Pure Barre North Raleigh…this has been life changing and such a happy edition to my life!!! Thank you to every single instructor and I can’t wait to meet everyone and for us to all fall in love. My goals is to hit 40 classes and to be able to eventual plank on my toes! Then I reconnected with my old partner in crime Lauren! We hadn’t seen each other in ages and I was giddy and nervous for our date…hahah!!! Lauren is the living embodiment of adorable

and down for anything! WE met at Coquette and I had the duck…it was gross.

We laughed and caught up on everything…i love reminiscing!

I literally didn’t want the night to end…Love you Lauren, can’t wait to do it again!

On the work front… my adorable sister and her kids came in to the salon!

We got the hot new summer products in from Oribe…could not be more obsessed!

This showed up in my Facebook time hop thing!

This was from Oribe’s La Fama in Miami 2 years ago…this was very motivating! Love these people!

Then a super inspiring stylist, Katie Manselle started at the salon! This woman is incredibly talented and such a gem! I love our growing family!

And finally…my meatball came home and we have been bonding our asses off! We are finally both in the same place in so many ways in the longest time!

Then, the cherry on the paleo PIE (get it Reuben?! winky face)…Reuben Carranza, President at Luxury Brand Partners and Group President of R+Co and v76 came back to the salon on Monday to give us all an inspiring class on branding! Reuben is the self proclaimed third meatball and we wouldn’t have it any other way. You may remember him from such posts last year as Two Meatballs: Is There a Cloud 10?!?!? We fell in love with this mogul from moment one…I mean look at us!?

I came in early to help set up for class

and when we saw each other it felt like a slow mo run in the airport! Reuben has a glow to him, a calm energy and a power! He is enigmatic and so engaging.

He looked great and said that he had started his own journey to health and lost 25 pounds since we last saw one another. Wahoooooo! This powerful, pop culture loving and busy man has been so supportive of this meatball adventure and we are so grateful and humbled! #lbpfamily He reached out to us today!

Haaaaa!!! But class and I’m guessing that you are sensing a theme with this post…was so inspiring and thought provoking and relevant and buzzy with good vibes and hilarious imagery!

Jenny and I talk a lottttt about The Bobies as you read yesterday on her post…so for those of you who don’t know what they are all about, here is a little run down. Being stylists, December is an extremely busy month for us, so Samuel Cole Salon has always had its holiday party in late January. But 7 glorious years ago Joelle decided we should do superlatives. So I wrote up a ballot,

had everyone in the salon vote each other a Most Likely To situation (but more like a good ribbing not like best smile!) and we wrote skits about each person and then I thought what if we gave out an actual award (cover a gatorade bottle in tin foil and glue a pic of their head on a spoon Kids in the Hall style) and thus the Bobies were born! Here are a few of my own personal ones…

Over the years I’ve gotten Most Likely to Make out with you, your best friend and your boyfriend all in one night (#imalover), Best Mentor/Worst Influence Ever and (stop reading now mom and dad) Most Likely to Show you a dick pic whether you want to see it or not! Haha…all true! Over the years things have changed and evolved and our company has grown so much. Each year, Joelle and I spend probably 40 hours compiling, writing, getting our comedic genius on and practicing our skits! And this year has been no different!

And honestly this is all of my dreams coming true. One night a year I get to live out all my Saturday Night Live fantasies of singing and making people laugh. It has turned into a full on roast! So let’s take a little stroll down memory lane…our first Bobies was at the restaurant formerly known as South in North Hills…everyone got dressed up to the nines…spray tans, makeup done, evening attire and fake hair galore!

Year two we had at Bone Fish…much to every other diners dismay…I got hammered before we started this year so it was a struggle!!!

This was also Jenny’s first Bobies and she joined the decorating commitee and also sang opera for everyone! The next year we upgraded to a hotel…bc it was the only place that would fit us anymore. Joelle and I also instituted a one glass of wine pre Bobies policy…the show went much smoother this year. Welcome to the Marriot Downtown…

Then we switched to the Renaissance at North Hills for the following year and Howard McLaren came…we all died! #whoseshe?!

Then we gave The Sheraton Downtown a go and we’ve been loyal ever since! This is three years ago…

Joelle and I decided it would be hilarious to rock the same dress…and spoiler alert…it was! My dress didn’t fit anymore but I tried on her dress that was 5 sizes smaller than mine and it almost fit!! #progress #majorADD

But it’s more than just getting dressed up and getting a Bobie…there are lots of awards of recognition for performance and commitment…they are called The Biggies…

I don’t know if you’re picking up what I’m putting down but basically it’s the living greatest night of the year! We literally countdown every year…

People get hotel rooms and the party lasts all night long. It’s so great o be together outside of work and hang out with everyones significant others who have become family. Being part of this incredible company is a gift that I am thankful for everyday, but nothing brings that out more than The Bobies. The whole night is a high. My sister has been my amazing date for 6 of 7 years (My bestie Katie came year one!) if you couldn’t tell from the pics above and we have the best time! #sistersleepover

This year will be a totally different experience bc I won’t be drinking or epically hungover the next day. I know there was some trepidation from my coworkers…part of the bonding is drinking together. But I have come to learn that I am actually wayyyy more fun sober and this night will be no different!!!! I’ll also be only 16 days away from a year of sobriety from the night of the Bobies…ahhhhhh!!!! I have my spray tan booked, extensions in, dress in my closet, spanx purchased, nails with Lee, makeup booked with Krystal, hair booked with Jenny, and practice booked all week with Joelle.

This year has flown by and as crazy as it sounds, this Saturday is the big show!!!! I literally can’t wait!!!! Now, I’m off to bed to rest up for this crazy busy week…fingers crossed that I can maintain my weight this month…right now I’m up 4…eeeek!!! Xoxoxoxoxoxoxxo

Hiiii you guys!!! Things have been so busy lately that I completely forgot that last Thursday was my 11th anniversary at the salon!!! That is a third of my life people!!!

You guys….to quote my friend Cara, this is the longest relationship (besides my family) that I’ve been in. And the most joyful and inspiring one. And like all relationships, it has been challenging, rewarding, ever changing, full of growth, patience (on their side not mine haha), and so much fucking fun. I literally grew up in this place. I’ve had so many incredible opportunities to meet and work with the biggest names in the industry and to learn, create and observe living art!!!

It’s so cool to look back over all of this!!! I meeeeeeeean I have so many reasons to be thankful. My bosses are the most wonderful people a girl could ask for…is it me or are we all starting to look alike!?

Last year for my big 1oth anniversary everyone in the salon dressed up like me!!! It was so funny and touching. I didn’t know that I had such a distinct style that it would be so easy to emulate but they murdered it right!?!!!

Animal print, a bow with a side braid or bun, leggings and a cute little top and boots #nailedit It was so funny bc I walked in and thought gosh is it me or does everyone look amazing today!? bahahahaha Matching is my dream. To everyone that I work with (best team of life), my meatball and to all my clients and my bosses, every educator and brand members…ugh I could just cry every time I think about how lucky I am to have each one of you in my life. I learn something new everyday and I am forever grateful for y’all. Coming to work is a dream and it’s because of all of you. I love you guys soooooo much and again to quote my genius friend Cara…thank you will never be enough!!!

So after my love bath at work I celebrated my Anna-versary with my sweet pal Anna…get it now?!?! Anna was coming to my house so we could make dinner together! With this new winter like blast that ascended upon us today…what should we make!?

Duuuuuhhhh…its time for soup!!!I love an at home cooking date with an old pal! Get ready for a little cooking segment called Pumpkin Garlic Soup Extravaganza!!!

Let me start off by saying that we subbed out the white whine for white vinegar and just like 1 tblspoon of that and 1/2 can of coconut cream instead of the heavy cream. Also, we added garlic powder in addition to the minced and I would highly suggest lots of texas pete and green onions to garnish! Here is us in action.

For the rest of the weekend I hung tight with family and hibernated!!! I made more yummy food…

Went to the gym and hung out with family alll weekend!!! You guys should def go see Big Hero 6!!!

This last one is my favorite! My grandma has the first water bed…it has tubes filled with water that over time stretch and need to be refilled! I asked her to pose on her bed when it was all said and done and this is what she did! Bahahahahahahahahaha!!! She said put that on your Space Page!

Sooooo, today we had the amazing Coby from Oribe come in to Samuel Cole Salon and teach an unstructured bob class!!! Cutting classes are so fun!!!! We love dressing up for these events! Especially with our new found fashion options! #meatballsinleather

Now….since we had class today and are going back in tonight for an R+Co app launch, our boss Joelle decided we should have a chili cook off!!!! These meatballs signed up right away!!! You know, since we are such seasoned (get it!?) paleo chefs now! So we went on Pinterest and decided to go for a white chicken chili!!! Why not right!?

So in the break between classes we bopped over to Whole Foods to grab a few last minute ingredients!

Busy is a great thing for me…it keeps me out of trouble!!! #idlehands I love a full plate, I love the challenge of juggling lots of things and due to my crushing ADHD I need something new going on all the time or I will get bored and inevitably find myself in trouble. #destruction Each one of these positions feeds a different part of me. I find so much joy in mentoring bc being a cheerleader for others and helping them find their own success is incredible. I love managing bc I get to spend even more time learning from my own mentor, Joelle which is my dream everyday!!! She is so wise and so amazing and super sexy with her glasses on top of her head and I’m thankful everyday that they didn’t fire the over confident asshole that they hired 11 years ago!!! I have learned soooo much from this woman!!! I have learned that you can have the career of your dreams by having a giving, teaching heart and a fierce business sense all while having the most fun possible. I have learned about finances, just being honwst with people, being a true leader, forgiveness, allowing people to grow, loving someone enough to have the tough conversations. #myinterventionist We’ve learned together that the conversation is the relationship…and I’ve loved every conversation with you Joji. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo. Joelle sat me down in February and said what I think everyone else had been thinking. She told me that it would be a shame for me to work this hard and save so much for my future, to not be around to enjoy it. It hit me like a ton of bricks. But she knows me so well that she followed it up with humor. She said it would be a shame to spend your retirement on…a jazzy scooter. She was so genuine and her words were so heart felt that I knew I had to make a change in my life and get healthy. She managed to do what no one else could which was confront me about my weight and partying ways. I had such a hostile vibe protecting my lifestyle that I don’t think anyone but her could have gotten through to me and I’m grateful everyday. Literally ten minutes after this life altering conversation, Jenny came up to me and said that she was miserable and feeling terrible. This was the final sign to me that a change was eminent. Thus…Two Meatballs Get Fit was born. #grateful

I love being a hair dresser soooooo much. Seeing my clients everyday and being so entrenched in their lives and helping people look and feel their best is a dream come true. I love these people…between my clients, my coworkers and my bosses, they have all become my family and it feels so amazing to be surrounded by people that you truly love. #luckiestgirlintheworld And beyond all of that I loooooooove cutting, styling and most of all COLORING hair. Which brings me to my last job…being an educator! This week marked another exciting Color Boot Camp for our current immersion class.

I’ve learned through this process that my strong 2 LOVES making a power point!!! I mean look at those slides!!!

This 2 day, 18 hour grueling course in all things color is where my passion really shines. Carolyn and I created this class and it is our child….we are proud parents!

Carolyn is a color genius…she is a chemist and she knows the inner workings of literally everything. She also teaches one hell of a consultation class and an amazing 5 section foil!

This class has evolved so much since the days of working on Newton or at The Annex!!! This year we had 5 associates in class. I live for seeing light bulbs go off and watching the AH-ha moment happen.

They learn the art of the consultation, the color wheel, formulation and hands on application!!! This go round we added a new segment of Hair Painting and had a guest educator contribute!!! Natalie you were AH-mazing!!!

Also, another thing I love about my job is that I work with my living bestie…my other half…my mini meatball Jenny who also happens to be on the education team, a Bumble and bumble Network Educator and part of Color Boot Camp!!!! Jenny is so passionate and talented and her ombre class is always a highlight (get it!?!?!?!)

We made these slides last year and so we got to see an old friend!!! Love and miss you everyday at the salon cuzzy wuzzy!

My strengths lie in communicating effectively with your clients and color formulation!

We had the such a great time!!! The educators were amazing and inspiring and the students blew my mind. What a super talented group of women. Gahhhhhhhhhhhh I love my career. Hope you feel the same about your daily grind. XOxoxoxoxoxo
